If This Doesn't Make People Get Out And Vote - NOTHING Will!

Gordon Brown: I will go on and on

GORDON BROWN is making secret plans to stay on as Labour leader after the general election even if his party is defeated. The prime minister has told close colleagues that he will refuse to quit unless the Conservatives win a significant majority.

“Gordon has said he believes his enemies in the party are too divided among themselves to force him out,” said a senior Labour source. “He thinks that if the May election is indecisive and if there is any prospect of a second election, Labour should not be plunged immediately into a messy leadership contest.”

The prime minister’s audacious strategy will infuriate Blairite backbenchers and some cabinet ministers who blame Labour’s ailing fortunes on his leadership and believe the party needs a fresh start. With many of Brown’s fiercest critics standing down at the election and others likely to lose their seats, he is optimistic that his plan can succeed. Friends of Brown believe he will want to remain in post if David Cameron’s majority is 20 seats or less. A hung parliament or a narrow victory for the Tories could result in Cameron calling a second general election within a short period to secure a better result.

Brown has told colleagues he believes it makes little sense for the Labour party to have a change of leadership if the political landscape is so uncertain. His critics fear his decision to remain in post is part of a strategy to pave the way for his ally Ed Balls, the schools secretary, to succeed him as party leader.

  1. I pay somewhat close attention to U.K. politics and this sounds like what may be happening here as it pertains to Obamas chances at re-election in 2012 in the U.S. Simply put, let them (Labour and Democrats respectively) hang themselves. if the Conservative movement is as strong as it is here in the U.S., coupeling with disasterous liberal governing Conservatives will take back decision making in the Western Civilization no time flat and the world better for it.

  2. Excellent news. The Tory Party needs to broadcast this from the rooftops. What better incentive is there for the party's supporters to get out and vote?

If you don't vote and give the party a big majority you'll have to keep on listening to this idiot for another 5 years. If you do, you can consign him to the dustbin of history where he belongs.

  3. Great post, Spidey.

Judging by Mandelbum's lukewarm endorsement of the arsehole on the The Politics Show this afternoon, and assuming Labour are obliterated at the general election (which I believe is precisely what will happen - dodgy polls or no dodgy polls and biased media or no biased media), Brown's future as leader of the wrecker party will be measurable in minutes.

As John R Smith comments, however, this is excellent news for the Tory Party, being, as it is, the first sign that the civil war among the Labourists, and that has appeared to be inevitable for some time, has begun.

    Hooray!

  4. This is good news for the Tory's.  They should publicize it.

  5. Spidey, you need a system like we have. After all, like what it got us %$#??&^*% !!!!!

  6. I think that the best thing about your system, Odie, is that you have fixed terms and you know exactly when your elections are going to be - that stops cunts like Brownarse from being able to play the kind of self-serving, childish and bullying games that he is currently deploying against the population and the opposition. ;)

One of the best things that Cameron could do is to introduce fixed terms before the 2014/5 election. (see what I mean?) *DONT_KNOW*

  7. He will end up in the "rubber room" with Big Bubba, Bunni! ;) :-D

  8. I'm with you all the way, D, someone in the Labour party is going to have to actually grow a set! This megalomaniacal nutcase can not be allowed to continue in post. >:o

I am also of the opinion that, provided people actually get out there and vote, which I believe they will do even moreso than in 1997, the Tories will win a landslide victory - a hung parliament is just another product of Gordoom's overactively delusional imagination!

  9. Again, I'm in total agreement, John, this is a golden opportunity to send the Labour/Communist party into complete oblivion - forever! :-P

  10. I think that scenario is a distinct probability, Christopher, the only thing that could possibly derail it is voter apathy - we have to make sure that doesn't happen - thankfully, the blogosphere is starting to have an effect - even here! :-P

The MSM are finally having to pay attention - they are always playing catch-up these days, which makes them look like toadying government lickspittles, (which, of course they are) - they still just haven't totally got to grip with the fact that what they say doesn't necessarily go anymore! ;)

  11. Gordo plans on living beneath the Houses of Parliament like the Phantom of the Opera.

  12. Just goes to show how wussy/neutered/worthless  the Labour party is, Odie. >:o

  13. He has already been wearing the mask for years, Nickie - if he ever takes it off - it will drive people as crazy as he is! =-O >:o

  14. That is a good one guys!  Phantom of the Opera....ha ha....I feel a photoshop coming on!
Paging Dr. Spidey, where are you!  I have a scoop  =-O

  15. As is seems, so apparent are these two seperate systems; one a parlementary and the other a democratic representative-morphing into a equal course outcome.
These nutjobs here are jamming a bill(s) against our will. The Demos will stay in office no matter what they have done, until they are dragged out kicking and screaming. Only time will tell if "O" will leave if defeated, or try and suspend election, only can wait and see.

  16. It seems to be a Lefty disease, TS/WS, they always cling on to power for as long as they can, to implement their rotten, hidden agendas and, like you, I'm wondering what stunt Brown is going to try and pull over here, (a trumped-up "state of emergency", perhaps), that will "allow" him to put the election on hold - indefinitely. =-O

  17. I hope he does stay on and then we can witness total meltdown.

  18. If it stops Mandleson, that can only be a good thing. He's hated, but feared and unfortunately, quite lethal. Balls might successfully keep Labour out of power. ;)

  19. That would be a rather entertaining scenario, James. ;)

  20. I so hope that Balls does become their next leader, Fausty - that would keep them out of power for a very, very long time. (forever would be good!) :-D
