CONNECTION PROBLEMS

Sorry for the lack of consistent blogging and commenting at your blogs, folks, I've been experiencing connection problems for about a week, now, and can only get online intermittently at the moment. The problem is being fixed but it may be a few days before things are back to normal as it doesn't originate with my ISP, but with British Telecom.

Thanks, everyone for your continued support, and in the meantime, I'll post whatever I can, whenever I can.

  2. Thanks, Rab, I know exactly what you mean. >:o

The only thing I can say is that Sky had to kick them up the arse about my download speeds a couple of months ago and that was fixed within a day with my speed increasing by x12. This time they have cut my speeds even more - they are now half what they were at their lowest point two months ago!

Being totally cynical, as I am, I reckon BT are doing this to collar customers from other ISP's and if that is the case, I think there will be trouble for them - good, they deserve it. ;)

  6. Serves you fucking right mate for using a cheapo ISP that just piggybacks off of duff old BT and its crap copper wires.
Fuck me, I've had 5MB/GB, whatever, fibre optic broadband since I hit the internet and could easily upgrade to 10but can't be arsed. Duno why BT, G Brown and the whole media mafia are making such a fuss about rolling out their new superfast Broadband, whats superfast about 2GB that you with Sky, Tiscali, Tesco and Joe The Butcher Broadband will have to put up with and you'll STILL be paying for  BT landline tht you don't need!

  8. Thanks, Bunni, and just think of all the fun you can have mumbling the lyrics so that they can't quite make them out! :-P

  9. This isn't just about the copper wires, Banned - I'm positive that BT are trying to lure customers from their current ISP's before the legislation to allow Sky and Talk Talk to run their own fibre optic cables using BT's underground ducts and telegraph poles goes through. ;)

Guess who has the "fastest" broadband speeds in the area, and by a large margin, according to Top Ten Broadband?

    Why, BT, of course! >:o

  12. Hi, Odie,

I was on the phone to Sky earlier this afternoon and the chap I was talking to went to "talk" to BT at one point and called me back twenty minutes later. Apparently Sky, (my ISP), had a response from BT telling them that the fault was nothing to do with BT - strange, then, that within an hour or two of today's verbal arse-kicking I am back online and my speeds have increased - just as they did the last time Sky had to intervene! ;)

  13. Thanks, D and Bunni - touch wood *DONT_KNOW*   - the appropriate arse appears to have been well and truly kicked, which seems to back up my theory about BT's underhand tactics! ;)

  14. It was coming to that, Ollie, or the local library - but Sky have sorted it out by the look of things. :-D

  15. I was beginning to wonder about that myself, Odie, *DONT_KNOW* , although I'm still leaning towards the "corporate greed" option. ;)

  16. Any Luck Yet?  Wow, I'm sending out the CIA to search for you!
I have interesting news to tell you, when you get back.  I'm off the the Library.
I hope you like the pic, I put as my YouTube Background too!

  17. Hold the CIA, Bunni, it looks like I am back properly now - phew, that was really quick, three days, Sky don't mess about. ;) Luckily, I didn't have to deal with BT myself or it would have taken ages to get anywhere - as Rab said further down the comments, "good luck with that".

  20. I tested it and BT is delivering speeds of 5Mbps around here - so they are most definitely fucking other ISP's around. :-$
