French Senate Ratifies Burkha Ban

Wearing a burka in public is set to become illegal across France after senators passed a nationwide ban. The country’s upper house voted by 246 votes to one in favour of the measure, although there were a number of abstentions. This means that a measure banning full face Islamic veils, also including the niqab, taken by the National Assembly, the lower house, in July was ratified.

It followed President Nicolas Sarkozy pledging to outlaw the ‘walking coffin’ which is ‘not welcome’ in France, and which he blames for causing all kinds of social tensions. Women who defy the planned law face fines of up to £125, or being ordered to attend citizenship classes. If a man, like a husband or a brother, is convicted of forcing a woman to wear a veil he will be fined £24,000 or jailed for a year. These sentences, which would be doubled if the ‘victim’ is a minor, are designed to avoid men subjugating women.

The measure will be become effective in the spring of 2011, subject to a six-month period of mediation, and possible appeals. Mr Sarkozy has argued that the law, which would apply to tourists arriving from countries such as Britain, is aimed at getting all Muslims to integrate fully into French society.

The bill was carefully worded to try and avoid such legal problems. It is called ‘Forbidding the Dissimulation of the Face in the Public Space’, and makes no mention of the words ‘woman’or ‘veil’. Because France is a secular society there are no mentions of the words ‘Muslim’ nor ‘Islam’ either.

STORY FROM HERE

Well, then - let's chalk one up for common sense and patriotism - no fucking grovelling to the cunts in France, then! If only our cowardly politicians would develop a spine the same ban could be made to work in Britain - but, of course, our ruling elite couldn't possibly allow that to happen  here in the EU's offshore  gulag!

POLITICIANS?

I FUCKING SHIT 'EM!

  1. France is certainly standing up for what is right.  Good for them.
Nothing surprising that the "religion of peace" would threaten to blow up the Eiffel Tower.  I expect no less.

  4. Vive la France is all I can say, well done to them, they appear to be handling the 'Roma' issue with a firm hand also.
If only our Dave would grow a pair!

  6. They are so predictable, TCL, they kicked off within minutes of the ban being announced - no premeditation or preparation there, then!! *DONT_KNOW*

I wish I could say the British government would follow suit, but I can't...... the whole lot of them haven't got one pair of balls between them! >:o

Just like you guys on the other side of the pond, we can't rely on our elected "representatives" to do the right thing - they continue to kiss MooseLimb arse instead of kicking it! >:o >:o >:o >:o >:o

  7. I know what you're saying but I'm so glad that the French have finally stood up to the bastards. We are not permitted to wear full-face helmets, balaclavas, hoodies, or anything else that covers the face in banks and other places where there are security issues, AE, the only ones getting away with blue murder, (while throwing our tolerance right back in our faces), are MooseLimbs! >:o

The Labour government have, during the course of their thirteen-year programme of national destruction, intentionally scored the British own goal by continually caving in to Muzzie demands while trampling all over the rights of the indigenous population! >:o >:o >:o

And I'm not hopeful of any change in tactics from our current Brokeback Coalition who have made it clear that it would be "un-British" to ban the burkha - yet they are happy leave the smoking ban in place while pubs are closing down at the rate of 50 per week when they could simply give pubs and customers the choice of smoking or non-smoking pubs. By the way, a village pub that was forced to close down permanently because of the smoking ban was recently re-opened...... as a mosque! >:o >:o >:o >:o >:o

    Own goal? Bring it on! ;) :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P

  9. I think iDave's problem is that, as a Red Tory, he thinks he already has a pair, FH, while the rest of us want an authentic Conservative government to put an end to this shit once and for all! ;)

  10. They'll try to throw a spanner in the works, (as usual), CH, but something tells me they won't win this time. ;) :-P :-D

  12. Why am I not surprised that a threat to the Eiffel Tower came in just a few minutes after the vote?

Indeed, Moslems were no doubt enraged that the matter was even up for a vote!

  13. It will take a Conservative (and then some) government to sort this lot out I am afraid.

  14. How ironic that it should be France, co-founder of the Evil EfuckingU and so everything diverse and multi-culti that should be leading the fightback by simultaneously banning the burkha and Roma. The EU will beat them down in their courts but at least the issue will get an airing, at last.

  15. They'd better start getting used to it, mate - they are getting close to outliving their usefulness to the New World Order. ;) :-P

  16. The EU courts will try, Banned, but if either France or Germany tells the EU to fuck right off, the EU tends to quickly scuttle off whimpering with its tail between its legs! ;)

  17. Now all we need is for the bunch of spineless bastards in Westminster to follow the lead, mate. :-P :-P :-P :-P :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D
