You know that really catchy song in the new Heineken commercial?
Well, I liked it so much that I went and tracked it down on You Tube and I can't understand why it hasn't been a huge hit before now!
As well as being a great recording, the singer is also extremely easy on the eye, (down, boys!), and as a whole musical concept it's absolutely brilliant!
Here you go, folks, enjoy.......
Barking,,,Your scaring me. I feel I need to drop everything and grab a flight to Britain for an 'intervention'!
ReplyDeleteThe new Debbie Harry?
ReplyDeleteJames,,,I respectively disagree, not on the looks mind you as I thought the very same, but rather the sound.
ReplyDeleteIt seemed to me a heroin induced mix between Blondie and Charo with a little George Michael thrown in. God, I thought Rap was bad?
Hi Spidey, that was interesting ;) , I do think they had "help" in making it.
ReplyDeleteThe singer is pretty!
I hope your weekend is going well! I'm celebrating.

They made this a couple of years ago, Bunni, and it's taken until now for them to get a break with it - something, (or rather, someone), in the hit-making machine, either at the record company or the management level, wasn't doing their job properly. *DONT_KNOW*

This is the advert I first heard it in ;)

If the record company/management do their job right, anything is possible, James - obviously it's a whole different vocal and instrumental approach but there is most definitely that certain spark, here - it's unusual and she's also got "IT" in abundance! ;)
ReplyDeleteThe other thing is that if you listen to it a few times it really sticks - I can't get it out of my head - it's such an infectious tune/vocal. 8-)
Don't worry, Christopher, I'm fine, mate - I've just always tried to stay open-minded about music. Every so often something comes along that grabs my attention and this is one of those times - I kept hearing it on television in the Heineken advert, (video posted here in my reply to Bunni), and it got me straight away. I love the whole, almost "throwaway" approach to the vocals and the video and, for me, it just has a general, excellent feelgood factor to it. I'm not saying she's a technically brilliant singer but her vocals are perfect for this song and the unique sound of this band. ;) :-D :-P
ReplyDeleteRap IS bad! >:o (the "C" is silent!) :-D
ReplyDeleteIt took me a minute but I figured it out. She sounds like a little kid.
ReplyDeleteFor whatever reason I found the song more agreeable in the commercial? Maybe all the action going on?
ReplyDeleteSee what I mean? Listen to it a few more times and it will get stuck in your head, mate - relentlessly stuck in your head - to me, it meets all the criteria for a real winner of a hit that's just dying to happen. ;)
ReplyDeleteThat's not something that had occurred to me but it is cheeky, quirky, unusual - whatever way you look at it, it's different and I've been around the music business for long enough to know a hit when I hear one. ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd it seems that other people agree with me, too - the number of hits on You Tube now stand at 2,208,697 - not bad! :-P
Love the kittehs, by the way! :-P :-D
ReplyDeleteI don't do telly so have not heard the ad, an intersting ditty though and I hope they make lots of cash from the royalties.
ReplyDeleteMe, too, mate - glad you liked it. ;)
ReplyDeletethis is my song for the summer . her voice and [sorry] a pint of FOSTERS bang tidy reem whatever , its a shame i am old enough to be her grandad.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean, Onslow, she makes a happy man very old! :-D
ReplyDeletein my case an old man very happy !
ReplyDeleteCareful there, mate, you'll go blind! :-P
ReplyDeleteCAN YOU PRINT THAT IN CAPITAL LETTERS ,PLEASE
ReplyDeleteI WOULD IF I COULD SEE WHAT I'M DOING! O:-)
ReplyDelete"She sounds like a Little Kid" Where on earth did he get that from ?? =-O
ReplyDeleteSome people hear the strangest things in the most innocent of songs! At least
2,200,000 some plus YT viewers have a discerning ear, Spidey!
An intervention? if anyone needs.....oh never mind. *DONT_KNOW*
ReplyDeleteI & millions of others think you have excellent taste in music & vids, Spider. ;)
I like the commercial version better. It is shorter, and the flute fillin is just right.
ReplyDeleteThat's the version I first heard, TS/WS, I think the action in the commercial is just right for it - they seem to have also shot a complete video for the song around this setting and used a lot of the footage that appears in the advert. ;) :-P
